Blog #2: How to End
I’ve always enjoyed writing. It was a great creative outlet when I was a teenager, and when I was in college I took writing classes as my elective since my Major was Criminal Justice. My favorite class was creative writing, and I took English 105 for fun and loved talking with future authors and journalists. I also envied them that they could study this topic as a major, when I had to get a “good job” to justify going to college.
But ultimately I loved writing and reading, it was my true passion. The only problem I had was how to end my work. I still struggle with it, whether it be emails, texts, or stories. I’m not even sure how I’ll end this blog to be honest. I just know what I want to say.
I’m fairly good at starting writing prompts, and I have a general idea of the content. But how to end it. What’s a good ending sentence? Paragraph? This is where I get stuck.
That’s where I’m currently at in one of my writing prompts for my mental health essays. I’m not sure how to end it, and I’m talking about the cost of medication without insurance. It can be quite frustrating. I also find myself staring off into the distance, and blanking on my writing. Kind of like writer’s block but for writing endings. When I try to write the closing paragraph or sentence, it always seems forced or awkward, like it ends abruptly.
I can’t think of an ending for this either, so I will end it…
